System Introduction
The Environmental Incident Information Portal is a WebGIS system developed by the Vietnam Environmental Incident Response Center - SOS Environment Center to support data aggregation, management, lookup and visualization of environmental incident risk information.
The system displays base map layers, administrative boundaries, SOS stations, hydrological systems and environmental risk points such as industrial parks, warehouses, petroleum/LPG facilities, chemical storage sites, hazardous waste sources, ports, logistics sites and other facilities that may generate environmental incidents.
Purpose of Use
The system supports the following operational groups:
- Manage and visualize environmental risk points on a digital map.
- Support preliminary risk screening by risk source, agent, scale and response capacity.
- Support planning, survey, inspection, monitoring, drill and response material allocation.
- Lookup SOS stations, risk points, administrative areas and hydrological systems.
- Standardize data for prevention, response and post-incident recovery activities.
Data Sources
Data is compiled from base maps, administrative data, specialized datasets, SOS-managed updates and internal user inputs. Main data groups include OpenStreetMap base data, administrative boundaries, SOS station data, hydrology, environmental risk points, incident records and response/recovery records.
Legal Liability Limitations
Information displayed on the system is for lookup, operational management and initial decision support. It does not replace official legal documents, monitoring results, inspection conclusions, field survey records or decisions issued by competent authorities.
Before using data for reports, public release, legal handling or decisions affecting organizations and individuals, users must verify and compare it with original records and competent agencies.
User Recommendations
- Always verify important information with source documents before making formal decisions.
- Use the map for screening, lookup and operational coordination.
- Report incorrect or outdated information to the system administrator for correction.
- Do not disclose internal station, inventory or incident data without authorization.
